HYMN TO THE LIFE

HYMN TO THE LIFE
MANUELA CARNEIRO  |  INNO ALLA VITA

10 questions to Manuela Carneiro about the art of pole and dance.

STARTING POLE DANCING
I started pole dancing when i was 27 years old, in April 2007. I lived a very difficult time in my life... I needed to find a discipline that allowed me to give me confidence in me while evacuating some anger, an outlet... I was fascinated when I touched the pole for the first time. I decided to teach in 2009.

BEFORE POLE DANCING
I started dancing at 4 with a bit of classical and modern Jazz, I stop at the age of 16 to 24 years, to resume by HipHop, House Dance and Waacking. I also practiced two years in the gym.

COMPETITIONS AND MOTIVATION
I do not compete a lot. I was motived by the thought of having access to the scene in France because there is no other possibility with only exception the clubs there... I wasn't really in the spirit of competition but I have always been very pleased with the ranking that I could get. It gave me visibility and recognition that today allows me to live my passion.

YOU ON STAGE. USE ONLY 5 WORDS
emotion, passion, pleasure, sharing, working.

POLE MEANS
A culture, an art itself, a way of life, my therapy.

POLE AND YOUR LIFE
It did not just influenced my life, it changed it dramatically.
Before discovering pole dancing I was a graphic designer for 10 years in a society where I felt good, things were so fast for me that I had to make a choice between my job as a graphic designer and my passion... I chose my passion and it became my profession. I feel lucky to experience all these wonderful things it brings. The support i had from my employer and my parents at that time –without whom I would not be here today– is priceless. I will be eternally grateful for them.

ANY CHANGES?
No, I love what this is, with different styles. The freedom of discovering.

AN UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT
This year with my "dooblette" Marion Crampe. We joined Florence Foresti's show. She is a well known comedian in France and she let us participate for 4 minutes in one of Paris' biggest show halls. 11.000 spectators every nights for 5 days, and 4 more in Lyon. We were part of a huge projection on movie theaters across France, and part of a DVD from the show, which Florence Foresti generously valued what we do and gave us great recognition. There were 5 poles, 12 meters high and we were performing on the side of a talented singer, Sonia Lacen. She was singing live and this created an intense feeling for all three of us. This is the most beautiful moment i had in terms of sharing and performing and i'm never going to ferget it!

MANUELA IN 5 YEARS
On stage and happy.

A WISH
The show must go on forever.
